CHICK CITY

Dear Parents:

We are going to be hatching baby chicks very soon (the eggs will arrive on APRIL 4).  The kids are super excited.  During the hatching process, be sure to ask you child a lot about what is happening with the chicks at school.  This is such a great learning opportunity for them and they will love sharing their knowledge with you at home.

On Wednesday, APRIL 16th we will be hosting a “Chick City” from 11:00 – 11:45 am.  This is where we will set up the buildings that the kids construct at home in the formation of a city and we will let the chicks lose in the city to run around.  The kids will need to chart how many times the chicks enter each building so we can pull in our math data collecting and graphing skills.   It is a very fun and entertaining time for the kids.

Construction of the buildings for “Chick city” needs to be done at HOME.  Your child can build their chick building out of a wide variety of materials (wood, cardboard, Lego…the options are endless). Please make sure that the building that your child builds has an entrance that is big enough for the chick to fit through. Please have your child keep the building that they construct at home until Wednesday, April 16 th.

It is not mandatory for your child to construct a building.  This is an OPTIONAL activity, but the more buildings we have the more exciting “Chick City” will be for the kids, so please encourage your child to participate in constructing a building.
