My Little Ukrainians!


Wow...did the kiddos ever get in the spirit of being team UKRAINE!!!
We had a great time celebrating the MMH Olympics! I was amazed at the spirit of the kiddos! The Olympics is a very special time and we had a blast together as a class decorating PYSANKY EGGS and having an enormous UKRAINIAN FEAST!!!
Thank you to the parents for helping to make our Olympic celebrations so memorable!!!
Miss. Pickett is so very proud of all her little Ukrainians!!!

What a great Ukrainian feast today!!!!

A HUGE THANK YOU TO ALL THE PARENTS THAT HELPED MAKE THIS FEAST POSSIBLE!!!
All the dishes were AMAZING!!! It was a great way to celebrate the culture of Ukraine.
This feast was a great experience for the kids! And their bellies were so full that we had to have all the desserts later in the afternoon!!!
Thank you to the parents for making this experience something the kids will remember for a long time. I could not do activities like this without your help!!!

Congratulations HUNTER for being Miss. Pickett's special person!


Congratulations HUNTER!!! Hunter is a true ray of sunshine! She can light up any room with her bright smile and her kind spirit! Hunter has been working very on her math addition, subtraction and multiplication skills! Hunter loves to take on really hard math challenges to show her critical thinking skills. Hunter has a true passion for being a creative writer and she always tries to make her compositions extra juicy with lots of fancy writing words.
Hunter, I am so proud of everything you do! You are a great role model and a true gem to teach! Thank you for always sharing your kind words with everyone. You have a heart of gold and you are going to go amazing places in the world with your fun loving spirit!

Sugar Cube Castle Materials - MONDAY!!


MONDAY, MARCH 1st we are building sugar cube castles!
Kids need to bring in:
* 11 X 13 piece of sturdy cardboard
* bottle of white glue
* one or two boxes of sugar cubes (one is required)
Kids can bring in their materials any time between now and Monday. All materials need to be at school on Monday. Please make sure materials for your child are clearly labelled with their name.

Olympic Ukrainian Feast Letter - On Wednesday, Feb. 24 we will be having a Ukrainian Olympic Feast. I need parents to help out with this activity by supplying a Ukrainian dish for the kids to sample. Please read the letter for full details and recipe websites. I cannot do this activity without parental support, so big thank you in advance for helping make this a memorable activity for the kids. I will also needs some parents to volunteer to help warm and serve the food.



Pysanky Letter - On Tuesday, Feb. 23 we will be doing PYSANKY egg decorating with wax crayons and hard boiled eggs. Your child will need to bring in 2 HARD BOILED eggs for this activity. Please read the letter for full details.

For our Valentine's Day celebration we will be skating on FEBRUARY, 12TH (Friday) from 9:00 am to 10:00 am.
I am in need of parents to help transport kids to and from the arena.
Parents are welcome and encouraged to join their kids on the ice to skate. Younger siblings may also participate in skating (as long as they are wearing a certified hockey helmet)
Bicycle helmets are not acceptable to be worn on the ice. Children must be in certified hockey helmets. There are extra hockey helmets at Nicholas Sheran should your child need to borrow one.
A letter is coming home with your child today regarding skating.

The kids have been really challenged in science this week to interpret illustrated architectural bridge plans. I am absolutely amazed with the kids ability to problem solve and use different criticual thinking skills to build their bridges! Way to go monkeys!

Maddy is a very responsible student who always tries her best with every task that she tackles. She has a kind heart and a warm spirt that brings life to any room. I am so proud of all the efforts that Maddy is making in her writing to write very detailed sentences that are full of juicy words! Maddy loves to take on big challenges in math to show that she is a good problem solver. I love the motivation that Maddy shows to take responsibility for her learning. YOU ARE A SUPERSTAR!!! Miss. THURSDAY SCIENCE PROJECT --- BUILDING WITH SALT DOUGH

I am sending home a very simple recipe for "SALT DOUGH" with your child today.


Each child will need to bring in SALT DOUGH ON THURSDAY for their science building project. Please make up the salt dough recipe on WEDNESDAY NIGHT so that the dough is fresh for your child to use for THURSDAY. It will need to be stored in an AIR TIGHT container or bag.

This is a very fun science project for the kids so please make sure that you take the time to make up the dough for your child.
IT WILL BE FUN FOR YOU AND YOUR CHILD TO MAKE THE DOUGH TOGETHER.
